Halima Hoy Is Crowned Miss Universe Belize 2024

by Khaila Gentle

As far as pageants go, Miss Universe Belize is perhaps one of the most anticipated competitions in the country. And, this past weekend, 2022 winner Ashley Lightburn passed on the crown to a new queen. Not only will twenty-nine-year-old Halima Hoy represent Belize at the 2024 Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November, but she will be the first married woman to do so. (The Miss Universe Belize franchise last year announced that women of all ages and marital backgrounds were eligible to apply.)

Born and raised in the Port Loyola area of Belize City, Halima is currently pursuing her degree in Kinesiology-Allied Health. She’s also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a certified pre and postnatal fitness coach. An advocate for health and fitness, Halima hopes to raise awareness around non-communicable diseases like hypertension, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes.

The first runner-up this year is Maryam Abdul-Quawiyy and Myra Sibrian is second runner-up. Congratulations to Halima and congratulations to all the ladies who stepped up to compete in this year’s pageant!
