If you’re traveling to Belize, chances are you will be flying into the Philip Goldson International Airport, just outside Belize city. While you’re near, get to know the former capital, Belize City, by taking a walk down the busy city streets. Here you can immerse yourself in Belizean history by visiting some of its oldest landmarks and treating yourself to local delicacies from street vendors along the way. Be sure to get a taste of a refreshing snow cone or a seaweed shake.

Solo trip tip: Whether you’re on a tour or at a local restaurant, it never hurts to strike up a conversation.

There are many islands situated across Belize’s gorgeous Caribbean Sea, but Caye Caulker should be top on the list if you’re a solo traveler. This island may be tiny, but it is rich in color, adventure and that “don’t worry about a thing” mentality. From Belize City, this island is only minutes away by flight, making it an easy trip if you’re solo. Here you can choose to embark on day trips that regularly leave the island. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy Belize while meeting fellow travelers during a thrilling adventure.  Be sure to book a trip to Shark Ray Alley where you get the opportunity to swim alongside Belize’s nurse sharks. This is an experience you don’t want to miss.
