The Most Beautiful Places to Live in Belize

by Khaila Gentle

What makes a location beautiful can be a pretty subjective matter. For some, it’s natural landscapes and colorful vistas. For others, it might be modern architecture with intricate designs. From quiet fishing villages to bustling hubs, Belize is teeming with gorgeous and diverse destinations that those who call it home never hesitate to voice praises for. Here are some of the most beautiful places to live in Belize.

The Placencia Peninsula

There’s no debate about it, the Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize is home to some of the country’s most beautiful and pristine stretches of beach. The golden sand beaches are unmistakable. But what makes Placencia even more beautiful is its location. This 19 mile long finger of land sits nestled between sea and lagoon, and is within easy reach of both offshore and inland adventures.

Far away from the typical tourism crowd, Corozal Town is a hidden gem in northern Belize. Though it may not remain that way for much longer, as more and more people are flocking to this bayside destination for its affordability, scenic location, and peaceful communities. Residents of Corozal get to enjoy sea views and Caribbean seabreeze without the hefty price tag that often comes along with the islands.

Also found in the north, Sarteneja is one of Belize’s prettiest villages. Quiet and undisturbed, it sits near the Bay of Corozal and is one of the best places to catch a sunset. This charming village is uniquely situated and known as the only place on Belize’s mainland where you can watch the sun set (rather than rise) over the sea. Meanwhile, the waters of Sarteneja are a gorgeous chalky blue, owed in part to the limestone silt on the sea bottom.

Known as the friendliest village in Belize, Hopkins is as beautiful a location as it is teeming with rich culture. Think unspoiled beaches and a laid back vibe that’s the hallmark of Southern Belize. What makes this coastal village all the more beautiful, though, it the fact that it sits hugged by the Maya Mountains. Sunsets in Hopkins village are unbeatable, with warm golden rays shining over both the shimmering sea and rolling hills.
