Concerts, carnival, fireworks, and more! This year, the Independence month celebrations on Ambergris Caye kick off on September 16 with Noche Centro Americana to celebrate a number of Independence Days in Central America that not only include Belize but El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and others. Then, it’s the first San Pedro Soca Festival, headlined by soca star Destra, on September 17.

On September 20, pre-independence celebrations will herald Independence Day with free entry at Boca Del Rio; international guests DJ Ana and Ultra Simmo will lead the crowd into midnight with special performances and of course, fireworks!
On Independence Day — September 21 — the morning sees the island’s formal Government-led events, but later that day, masqueraders will take to its cobblestone streets for the island’s Carnival Road March. Masqueraders — which includes costume dance groups, t-shirt dance groups, and floats — line up at 1 pm at Corona Del Mar.
