Ambergris Caye resident, Kimberly Wylie, has created the Ambergris Caye COVID Relief Cookbook, to support those in her community impacted most by COVID-19.
The island, which relies heavily on tourism, has suffered tremendously due to the pandemic, with travel to the country remaining suspended for tourism.
People who had very little to begin with, now have nothing. – Wylie explains.
And this is where the idea for the cookbook came about. 100 percent of the profits earned from book sales go to the San Pedro Hot Lunch Program. Started by Maresha Reid of Pirate’s Treasure Restaurant and Pirate’s Not-So-Secret Beach Bar, this program feeds almost 400 island residents 3 times a week.
The cook book includes 90+ recipes from local restaurateurs, chefs, Ambergris Caye residents, and visitors. It includes 45 Belizean-specific dishes, and 52 more non-Belizean dishes. Amazing photos also feature alongside recipes to showcase the beauty of Belize.
The cookbook is available to purchase in paperback, hardback or mobile here.
