When we think back fondly on our childhood, some of us had – or desperately wanted – to have their very own treehouse. The magical realism of having your own abode, high above from the rest of the mundane world was a coveted luxury to say the least. In Belize, you get to relive that dream – or attain it if you never experienced it – by staying in premier luxury treehouses. Imagine waking up surrounded by the Belizean jungle but with the convenience of resort amenities.
This romance-led jungle resort sits on the banks of San Ignacio’s Macal River deep in the forest of the Cayo District. Sweet Songs may be relatively young, but they have already made a splash in the eco-resort industry. They recently unveiled their new premier treehouses which includes a beckoning daybed for lounging at a higher level. Crossing an exciting suspension bridge to the room, the treehouse offers seclusion and privacy, ideal for couples or honeymooners. The resort also offers many activities on site like river tubing, kayaking, and more.
We’re slowly realizing Hopkins’ hidden gems won’t stay hidden for long, and Hamanasi Dive Resort is proof of that. Located on Belize’s southeast coast, Hamanasi sits on a 12-mile stretch of decadent beach. The plot twist is that it also has 22 acres of coastal forest! Talk about the best of both worlds. Because of this, their treehouse room has views of jungle foliage while still being situated on a beach. You’ll be waking up 12 feet above the ground to the chirpings of birds and beautiful garden views. Equipped with a four-poster King-sized bed, you’ll never want to come back down to join the real world. (Bonus: it also has air conditioning!)
The “luxury” aspect of this luxury treehouse does a lot of the heavy lifting here. Chaa Creek’s treetop villas may not exactly be what we picture when we hear treehouse — but it’s only because it’s the most luxurious “treehouse” we’ve ever seen. The treetop Villas are within the rainforest canopy in San Ignacio, surrounded by tropical views and the Macal River. The stunning floor-to-ceiling wraparound windows make for great jungle views that have become synonymous with Belize.
One of the most iconic stays in the forests of Belize, Caves Branch Lodge houses a treehouse with dizzying views. The mountainous valley is spread below the towering room. The outside patio holds a jacuzzi and there is also an outdoor shower ideal for a post-hike wash up. In the night, you can hear the distant roars of howler monkeys as they navigate the wild jungle below.
