An Educational Meet-and-Greet

Ever wanted to learn more about Belize’s wildlife? In San Pedro, ACES Wildlife Rescue offers an opportunity to do just that, but with a twist. A visit to their facility goes beyond just observing the country’s fascinating animals. It’s also about contributing to their conservation. ACES spends time and care rehabilitating and caring for crocodiles and other animals in Belize. They invite guests to schedule a visit to the center, noting that visits are all scheduled, guided, and focused on education for the conservation and protection of Belize’s native wildlife.

In the heart of the Belize River Valley lies the Community Baboon Sanctuary—an inspiring conservation project. Despite its name, it’s actually home to the black howler monkey, locally known as the “baboon.” This sanctuary is a testament to the power of community-led conservation, spanning over 20 square miles and running for more than three decades. Embark on tours that take you through lush forests where troops of howler monkeys swing from branch to branch. Their iconic, guttural calls echo through the trees, creating a truly immersive jungle experience. It’s a chance to witness these primates in their natural habitat, up close and personal.
