Alaia Foundation to host Ambergris Caye’s 2nd Half Marathon & 5K Charity Run!

The Alaia Foundation has announced that plans are underway for Ambergris Caye’s 2nd Half Marathon & 5K charity run which is scheduled to take place on April 5th, 2020. Moreover, the foundation seeks to provide financial, educational, medical, and environmental support with the events net-proceeds, to disenfranchised families/communities across Belize.  

 

Runners can take part in twenty-one or five-kilometer distances, with different age range categories including; under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and over 60. The 5k run will take off from Seagrape Drive at 6 am (tentative) while the Half Marathon (21K) will take off at 5 am (tentative). Participants of the 5K run will turn back near Boca del Rio, with several chances of snatching station prizes along the route. Participants in the Half Marathon will take runners through the principal streets of Town, into North Ambergris Caye and turn back at the cut-off to Secret Beach. Both races will end at their starting point, in front of Alaia’s Model Home on Seagrape Drive.  

All finishers will get a medal, and trophies and/or prizes will be awarded to the top overall and age group finishers.  We are thrilled to once again be hosting the biggest sporting event on Ambergris Caye,” said Andrew Ashcroft, Managing Principal of the Alaia Foundation. “Being able to join hands as one for a great cause to secure funding for the country’s disenfranchised families and encouraging the active participation of our community is our ultimate goal.”
