Beachfront Living on Ambergris Caye at Alaia: Grand Opening May 2021

by Vivian Roe

A recent news report by CNBC listed Ambergris Caye in Belize as one of the most affordable Caribbean islands to live. The report found that amid the Covid-19 pandemic, interest in living on Caribbean islands has dramatically increased. Whether considering making the move permanently or just owning a vacation home, this new beachfront resort needs to be on your radar. With the grand opening set for May 2021, Alaia Resort, Autograph Collection will be the first Marriott-branded property in Belize.

Web traffic for International Living’s Caribbean island report was up 225% last month alone, says the website’s executive editor, Jennifer Stevens.

Understandably, better weather and a more laid-back lifestyle topped the reasons for those considering the move. Ranked along with Belize was also Roatan, Isla Mujeres, Las Terrenas and Isla Colon.

As the largest island in Belize, Ambergris Caye is known for housing the Belize Barrier Reef. The island is popular among expats for its reliable internet and cell phone coverage. Regular flights and water taxis also make it easy to head into town, to either Belize City or Chetumal, Mexico, according to International Living. A couple can live comfortably for around $2,950 to $3,150 per month, which includes the rental of a house or apartment, according to International Living.

So popular is the property that villas and studios have sold out. However, on the market still are the 56 two-bedroom condominiums ranging from US$349,000, with financing available.

Andrew Ashcroft, owner of Alaia Belize says, “Owners will be attracted to the project’s oceanfront location, modern design and finishes, resort pool, dining options and the islands first rooftop pool and bar.”

Indeed all those that buy a property have access to the world-class amenities. These include a beach club exclusive to guests and residents, and a rooftop suspended pool and lounge with spectacular ocean views. In addition, a full service spa, fitness center, kids club, dive shop and live art gallery will feature on-site.

Owners will have access to world-class amenities

What’s more is, Alaia Belize offers a no-hassle home ownership model. This means everything from interior design, furnishings, financing, and property maintenance are taken care of.

And for those owners who won’t be there full-time, the property offers on-site rental assistance. So owners can opt their condos or villas into a rental program; that is booked through Marriott International’s reservation system.
