Fudge Belizean recipe

On a scale of one to ten, how much of a sugar freak are you? We would like to believe that everyone has a sweet tooth buried somewhere within them, especially when it comes to taking a bite of a Belizean fudge.

Belize has some unique and interesting, yet delicious sweets that we urge you to try when you’re here. Belizean fudge, one of our all-time favorite desserts, differs from your typical fudge recipes that are chocolate-based. Belizean fudge is a sweet little treat composed mainly of condensed milk, peanuts, sugar, and often rounded with raisins or shredded coconuts if you please. It is very smooth and perfect for your sweet cravings.

These treats can be found on food carts, in stores, or if you’re lucky... in a Belizean kitchen. They’re delicious and melt in your mouth. You won’t be able to stop at one piece!

If you’re looking for a fun, easy, popular Belizean homemade dessert for the holidays, you can take a look at the recipe below.

How to Make Fudge

Here is our Flavors of Belize fudge recipe to satisfy every sweet tooth. This creamy fudge is the ultimate sweet treat with the added bonus that it is easy to make and only includes six ingredients.

14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

1 cup sugar

¼ cup butter

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated

¼ cup raisins, peanuts or shredded coconut, optional

Grease a cookie sheet with butter and set aside. Combine all ingredients in a nonstick saucepan and cook on medium, stirring constantly until it starts to bubble. Continue cooking for approximately 12 to 15 minutes, stirring constantly until medium brown. Add raisins, nuts or shredded coconut if desired. Mixture is ready when it pulls away from sides of saucepan. Pour onto cookie sheet and cool before cutting into 2-inch squares. Store in an airtight container.
