Calling all fishing anglers! Grand Caribe’s 4th Annual Deep Sea Classic Fishing Tournament will be taking place in two months. Mark your calendars for July 17th – 19th for one of the most exciting tournaments yet! The Deep Sea Classic Fishing Tournament to be held in Grand Caribe in Ambergris Caye. You could not ask for a more picturesque location with the Belize Barrier Reef a short distance away. The Belize Barrier Reef, stretching along the coast of Belize, is a fantastic destination for sports fishing. With Belize boasting the second largest in the world and year-round great weather, it’s no surprise avid anglers travel far and wide to try their luck out at sea.
Last year, 29 boats competed to win the grand prize of BZ$17,000, plus a Calcutta of another BZ$17,280. This year, the stakes are even higher with a grand prize of BZ$20,000. Overall, there’s a total of BZD$55,000 up for grabs, plus many great prizes!
Schedule of Events
The Deep Sea Classic is a fun-filled weekend with events starting from Thursday until Sunday. Starting Thursday, July 16th at 6pm, the tournament briefing, Calcutta and Captain’s dinner will be held at Grand Caribe Resort.
On Friday July 17th Bimini will be at 6am from the Grand Caribe dock with fishing being done until 5:00PM. For the last day, Sunday July 21st lines are in at1:00PM with an evening for awards and celebrations.
Having a great time at sea and catching an array of fish is a top highlight in Belize. Other events of the tournament include an auction of art pieces; last year’s hosted art from Carey Chen and Ernest Garcia. Proceeds of the night’s auction will go to charity, specifically the Hope Haven Children’s Home. For those not fishing, there will be live entertainment from an international band performing! Additionally, you can also participate in the Volley Ball Tournament and Kayak Race being hosted onsite as well.
Last year, 29 boats participated in the Deep Sea Classic tournament with many great fish caught.
Wahoo, dorado, tuna, and barracuda were all caught! Finally, after two days of spectacular fishing, Team Noh Worry Bout Nothin secured a first-place finish with a Blue Marlin release.
