“Let Us Make Eve” Supernatural Thriller Filmed in Caye Caulker Makes Its Debut

The island of Caye Caulker will be making a very special appearance in a new supernatural thriller this weekend. The independent film “Let Us Make Eve”, directed by Mark Harris, premieres on Friday, January 20 at the Ramada Princess Cinema in Belize City.

According to the film’s director, Let Us Make Eve’s first official screening will be to a sold out crowd. But those who were looking forward to seeing the film and didn’t get a chance to snag tickets shouldn’t fret just yet. Harris says that, come March of this year, there will be other screenings in Belize City, San Pedro, and Caye Caulker.

Later on in the year, the film will also screen in Sint Maarten. And, alongside another of Harris’ films, it will be screening at the 2023 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles this February. Harris is also aspiring towards a nationwide theatrical release.

“I’m extremely proud of this film and the powerful message we were able to tell through the magnificent power of entertainment,” wrote the director on his personal Instagram account.

A Supernatural Thriller Filmed on Caye Caulker

Let Us Make Eve follows a group of friends bound together by a murder they committed as teens. After making a celebratory trip to Belize, however, things start to go awry.

It stars American actress Jasmine Burke as the titular Eve alongside a host of other international actors. Last year, when  filming first began, Burke told CCL contributor Dion Vansen that the thriller is a production fit for a Caribbean destination like Caye Caulker. She also shared that “Let Us Make Eve” is her first international movie, calling filming in Belize “a dream come true.”

Belizeans will be happy to know that the island of Caye Caulker isn’t the only local appearance in Let Us Make Eve. Actors Indira Andrewin (Selva Tragica), Maryam Abdul Qawiyy, and Horacio Louis Guerrero (Time Fu Eat) all have roles in the film.
