Lobster Fest, one of the most anticipated and delicious festivals celebrated in Belize, has been postponed until 2021 due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
In Belize, the Lobster Festival is annually celebrated in the three locations of San Pedro, Caye Caulker and Placencia. Here, visitors and locals from far and wide come together to feast on these delicious crustaceans! Not to mention, also enjoy a month full of entertainment across the three locations. The opening of the season has become a favourite time for tourist to visit as June also marks summer time. Blue skies, tropical breeze, sunshine, and lobster, are just a few of the many great reasons to visit.
For 2020, unfortunately, the festivities will have to wait until next year with travel at a standstill. But, this does not mean you still can’t enjoy a nice home cooked lobster dish as the season reopens! The lobster season officially opens on June 15th, 2020 and runs until February 15, 2021.
In Belize? Lobster lovers can unite at the Lazy Lizard in Caye Caulker!
If you’re looking where to celebrate the opening of lobster season in Belize, head to the iconic Lazy Lizard Bar & Grill. Arguably Caye Caulker’s most famous attraction, the Lazy Lizard and ‘The Split’ are often interchangeable to describe this bustling combo of sea and land. Belize’s Lobster Fest marks the official kick-off event for summer in Belize. However, Caye Caulker’s Lobster Fest is the original, which started in July of 1994 by the Islanders Veterans Football Club. Though things may look differently this year, celebrate this annual seafood fête at The Split with the Lazy Lizard; paying homage to the usual full day of activities, the Lazy Lizard will be highlighting all things lobster from Thursday, June 18, to Sunday, June 21.
