Jimmy Buffet is no longer with us, but his legacy lives on. Last week, Caribbean Culture + Lifestyle was wastin’ away at Margaritaville with the grand opening of the newest addition to the family of parrot head-inspired resorts. Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye is officially open – and here’s what you can expect when you visit.
Getting There Is Part of the Adventure
Set on the far northern side of the island, Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye has all the charm of a remote private island – from the palm-studded beaches to the refreshing feeling of isolation. In fact, getting to this newly opened, secluded hideaway is an adventure in itself. Enjoy gorgeous landscapes and panoramic views from Belize City to San Pedro Town on a Maya Island Air Flight to Ambergris Caye
There’s never a dull moment when it comes to traveling across Belize via puddle jumper. Captivating views from above include shimmering turquoise seas, small islands, and maybe even a passing boat or two. Plus, travelers can get where they’re going quicker – a flight from the Philip Goldson International Airport to San Pedro Town takes just about 20 minutes.
From the San Pedro airstrip, it’s a quick trip to the Margaritaville Guest Lounge, where tropical decor and Jimmy Buffet-inspired artwork help to get everyone in the “Margaritaville state of mind.”

Then, enjoy a thirty-minute boat ride along Ambergris Caye’s scenic coastline, dotted by resorts, hotels, and beachside restaurants of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Upon docking at the Margaritaville pier, you’ll be greeted by the warm smiles of the resort’s staff along with a welcome drink to kick start your time in paradise.
Landshark, Canapés, and Live Music
The grand opening of Margaritaville was well attended, with investors, media reporters, influencers, and condo owners all in attendance. Following a soft launch earlier this year, the ribbon was officially cut, and the paradisaical Margaritaville was deemed “open for business”. What followed was cocktails and canapés, courtesy of the resort’s talented chefs, along with a tour of the property.
Regardless of which resort you’re staying, Margaritaville allows guests to forget all their obligations and revel in being able to simply kick back and unwind. But when you’re steps away from a sparkling beach and the Belize Barrier Reef, that gets a whole lot easier.
Boasting 55 suites, a beachfront restaurant, two bars, two swimming pools, and a whole lotta relaxation, the new Margaritaville definitely makes for a rejuvenating escape. That’s especially the case if you love far-flung destinations that exude an idyllic atmosphere.
