The Magic of Mystic River Resort

by Vivian Roe

There is something so special and mystic about being near water, and the river in particular. The serene sounds of water, the calm ever-flowing current and the life that relies on it. Rivers are magical, and one property in Belize that gives you the chance to simply enjoy their beauty is the Mystic River Lodge.

Here is all you need to know to convince you of the same.

Location

Mystic River Resort Jungle Lodge is located 7 miles from the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena. It gives you the chance to explore all the Cayo District has to offer and return to incredible serene wilderness at the end of the day. And, the beauty of the Macal River.

Rooms

There are only 15 rooms at the intimate Mystic River Lodge. Each is a beautiful, private, riverside cabin surrounded by lush rainforest. All are fully-equipped to ensure comfort and each has a sofa, a safe, and a private bathroom with bathrobes. Four of the cabins also feature a private plunge pool and outdoor shower. On cooler winter evenings, you can light the fire and cozy up to your loved ones.

Amenities

This riverside resort features a private river beach, a spa, organic gardens and an open-air restaurant. Should you wish to escape for the day, Mystic River Resort’s tour desk can arrange many activities and excursions. These include horse riding, canoeing and river tubing, as well as visits to Mayan ruins and guided treks through caves and waterfalls.

After a day of exploring, head back to the resort’s restaurant, La Ranita (The Little Frog). The thatched palapa with river views serves an eclectic menu of Belizean and other dishes. The French co-owner/manager also keeps 40 milk goats and makes her own cheeses.

Packages

The beauty of this resort is it’s designed for whatever the guest desires. Packages are available for romance or families, relaxing or adventuring. Whichever makes your Belize trip special, Mystic River Resort makes it possible.
