by Vivian Roe

A new year calls for a new adventure. A time to try new things and go new places. For those seeking to start the new year with a trip to Belize, then this resort may be your perfect base.

Ramon’s Village Resort is nestled on the beachfront in a tropical sanctuary at the heart of Ambergris Caye. Styled after the Tahitian cottages on the Polynesian island of Bora Bora, cabanas are built from native materials by local craftsmen. Guests can choose between beachfront, seaside or jungle views. No doubt, all boast all the amenities and comforts a modern-day traveler wants and needs.

On-site there is everything travelers need for a dream tropical escape. The 500 foot beach features beach chairs where you can will away the day. The lagoon style pool is encircled by palm trees and authentic Mayan sculptures.  The Tiki Turtle Trading Company, Tropic Al’s and Pineapples On The Beach surround the pool, meaning nothing is too far.

Picnic on the Beach & Cruise on a Catamaran

Spend the day on the sea aboard a 38-foot catamaran. Start the day with a smooth sail down the coast of the surrounding island. Following, snorkel at one of the top-rated sites – Mexico Rocks. After you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s time for a BBQ!

Local fish, chicken and shrimp, with all the trimmings are served on deck. Even better, lobster and conch will be on the menu, when they are in season. After lunch, a nap, sunbathing, or another dip in the crystal clear water is part of the agenda as you cruise back to Ambergris Caye.

Reef Fishing

Belize is not just a Scuba Diver’s Paradise. The Good Lord provided for the fisherman equally well. Hop aboard one of the resorts 24′ – 26′ hand–crafted, Belizean–made boats and head to where the “big ones” are. Not only will a skipper guide you to the best drop spots. They’ll also make sure you have everything you need to make your trip a success. The resort encourages catch and release fishing – unless of course you want to take it home for dinner. The on-site restaurant, will happily cook and serve your catch of the day!
