There is something quite special about dining in the sky, which includes 360 degree panoramic views. And for those visiting Ambergris Caye, there is one rooftop restaurant and terrace to try that overlooks the Caribbean Sea. The award-winning Rain Restaurant and Rooftop Terrance is the on-site dining of Grand Caribe Belize, which opened its doors in 2014. Since then, it has quickly become an island favorite with its s al fresco dining with panoramic views of La Isla Bonita. Combine this with an excellent food and drink menu and equally excellent service by a knowledgeable and friendly team, and you’ve got an unmissable dinner experience! For those planning a trip to Belize, make sure to book rooftop dining at Rain Restaurant in advance.

Location

Rain Restaurant is located on-property of Grand Caribe Belize Resort. Just 2 miles north of San Pedro, the restaurant is easily accessible by golf cart or a private charter from San Pedro Town. The resort itself sits on 800 feet of beachfront just half a mile away from the Belize Barrier Reef. Besides, who wouldn’t want that view – whether from a villa or rooftop terrace?

The Menu

The menu features an array of international cuisine with a local twist, including prime cut meats, local seafood and handmade pasta. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, patrons are also guaranteed a uniquely different view each time. Lookout over the calm waters in the morning as fishermen head out to sea, or drink in the rose-tinged pink skies at dusk over cocktails. At noon, the lunchtime menu features local favorites like seafood ceviche and beef empanadas, though the seasonal conch fritters are a must have!

However, the dinner menu is equally delicious where seafood and meats take center stage. Signatures like Black Bean-crusted Snook, Lobster Ravioli, and Filet Mignon shine alongside impressive cocktails, like their Ginger Pear Martini. If you’re looking for the best of Belize’s seasonal ingredients, order the Chef’s Special. Besides, a Togarashi Spiced Snapper topped with a chicharrón and corn salsa, coconut white rice and fried plantain doesn’t sound bad at all!

The Chef’s Special

The Team

At the helm of the restaurant is Executive Chef Samuel Gonzalez, an island native with a passion for excellence in fine dining. Chef Samuel’s culinary career began back in 2009 before he answered his culinary calling in 2012. By venturing into the food preparation arena, Gonzales ran his first diner less than two years later.

The Rain Team

The year 2014 marked the start of his Rain Restaurant journey initially as the understudy chef of Chef Hugo Meyer, where Chef Samuel further cultivated and mastered his culinary skills and techniques. Today, the team at Rain Restaurant continues to produce creative dishes with the best local and international ingredients.
