Advocate for women’s sports and co-owner of the Kansas City Current National Women’s Soccer League team Brittany Mahomes will be starring in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s 60th Anniversary issue this year with beautiful Belize as her backdrop. The former pro athlete traveled to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye for the shoot and this week the Sports Illustrated team dropped a bit of a teaser of what to expect from the coming issue. The 28-year-old officially joins the SI Swimsuit family as a rookie for the 2024 issue.

“Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse. Founder of the world’s first-ever dedicated stadium for women’s sports, Brittany’s journey has surpassed all expectations, inspiring others with her tenacity and unyielding determination.” –Sports Illustrated Swimsuit

Mahomes posed for photographer Derek Kettela on the white sand beaches of the ever-buzzing San Pedro Town, and according to the certified fitness trainer, the opportunity was a humbling one.

“As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in [the SI Swimsuit Issue]. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity,” she told SI Swimsuit.

Since then, Sports Illustrated has released a sneak peek of what readers can expect from the upcoming issue. In her shoot, which took place at Mahogany Bay Resort, Mahomes shines in a bright red cutout swimsuit by Mugler. Take a look at some of the photos below:

Mahomes says she strives to always be unapologetically herself, telling SI Swimsuit in an interview, “I think I align perfectly with SI Swimsuit’s vision because I am unapologetically always myself in any setting. I want women to feel empowered to always be yourself, love yourself, and feel confident in whatever you do and I think SI Swimsuit does, too.”
