February 24 is World Bartender’s Day! An annual date when the professionals behind the bar are recognised for the creativity, flair and hospitality they deliver every day to the thirsty traveler. And whilst our favourite bars may be operating a little differently currently, Travellers Liquors are making sure we still get to celebrate!

Here, we are inspiring the bartender in you. Shake and stir up your own DYI rum recipe at home – infused with Travellers of course.

DIY Belize Rum Punch

There isn’t a cocktail that symbolizes Belize more than a rum punch. And, it’s one of the best drinks to take liberties with, making it perfect to try at home. Mix and match fruits and dial up (or down) the amount of rum included. However you want to shake it up, you can.

  • 2 cups (500 mL) Travellers Classic White Rum
  • 1 cup (250 mL) Travellers Kuknat Rum
  • 2 1/2 cups (625 mL) fresh orange juice and pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) fresh lime juice
  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) grenadine

Stir all ingredients together in a pitcher or punch bowl, and chill before serving. However, use short rocks glasses full of ice like the Belize way; garnish with slices of orange and pineapple. This recipe yields about 10 servings.

The Palapa Bar Watermelon Whatchamacalit

This cocktail is served up at one of the coolest spots on Ambergris Caye for a drink. It blends fresh natural watermelon blended with local White Rum and Coconut Rum. Pour it over crushed ice and this cool and refreshing drink is ready to go! For those looking for something a bit more potent, try Scotty’s Palapa Punch.  3 rums, Tripple Sec, mango, pineapple and a squeeze of fresh lime. It’s not too sweet and not too sour!

The Tipsy Tuna Rum Daiquiri

An iconic bar in Placencia with local owners,  Tipsy Tuna is a great place to enjoy a daiquiri (or two). Even better, on Sundays they are $1 off! They are infused with the best of the local fruit in season – and packed with a punch!
