A new resort is giving travelers an upscale option when they book a stay on scenic, colorful Ambergris Caye. The Alaia Resort is an exciting new development that is sure to make a splash on Belize’s most popular island.

Ambergris Caye Continues to Attract Visitors

Belize’s popularity among tourists, expatriates, and retirees continues to grow, and this has led to a growth in lodging options. This is particularly true of Ambergris Caye, the popular island that lures travelers who want a classic Caribbean vacation heavy on the sunshine, beaches, and lively nightlife. Alaia answers that need with a development that combines hotel rooms, condominiums, and rental units. Located in San Pedro Town, it’s an ideal setting that makes the most of Ambergris Caye’s natural beauty and lively spirit.

Alaia is part of the Marriott Corporation’s Autograph collection. Hotels in the Autograph line are upscale, exclusive properties with their own distinctive character. The finished resort will have 35 hotel rooms, 56 two-bedroom condominiums, and eight oceanfront villas. It will have amazing onsite services including a dive club, rooftop pool, art gallery, restaurants, fitness center, spa, guest-exclusive nightclub and more.

Ocean Views and Spacious Units

Each of the Alaia’s condominiums offers ocean views, 900 square feet of outside space and more than 1,200 square feet of interior space. Prices range from $349,000 to around $1 million. Owners can enjoy their units themselves or rent them out through the Alaia’s onsite, experienced property management team.

The project started in 2017 and is now in the final phases of construction. It’s the first development of its kind in San Pedro. The project has the full backing of the Belize government.

“Belize’s tourism is booming, with 2019 being a record year and vastly surpassing the 400,000-annual visitor threshold,” said Belize’s Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia. “With the industry playing an integral role on the country’s economy, Alaia has the government’s full support as it will take our country to new heights by boosting employment growth, generating awareness of the destination, and allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Belize’s vibrant culture.”

Special Touches

The developers have paid attention to every detail of the Alaia’s design. According to the Hospitality.net blog, the interiors will be truly special:

“Alaia will be crafted by an experienced design team with worldly, eclectic sensibility, including…interiors by renowned Brazilian designer Debora Aguiar, who is known for her eco-luxury aesthetics. Designed to highlight the splendor of their natural surroundings, the residences will feature approximately 70% of fabrics and raw materials from Belize, including rustic marbles and stones, reclaimed wood, linen curtains, textured beige walls and earth-toned hues to complement the awe-inspiring views of the Caribbean Sea.”
