In an effort to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Government of Belize adjusts the national curfew hours to 9 p.m. and reopens dine-in service to fully vaccinated persons only. Effective today, Monday, October 4, 2021, the curfew hours will revert to 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily across Belize. Previously, the curfew began at 7:00 PM nationwide, except for the areas of Placencia Peninsula, Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, and Hopkins where the curfew began at 9:00 PM.

With the latest COVID-19 protective measures, the Government of Belize lifts restaurants offering take-out only to dine-in, at a reduced capacity to fully vaccinated persons only. This includes:

  1. Restaurants, saloons, diners, and other similar establishments allowed to operate may offer dining-in services by reservation only with fully vaccinated persons only at 50% capacity.
  2. Restaurants that have proper ventilation or a restaurant that is an open-air restaurant, outdoor restaurant, or an al fresco dining restaurant that is allowed to operate, may offer dining-in services by reservation only with fully vaccinated persons only at 75% capacity.

It should be noted that churches and casinos remain closed, and contact sports are not allowed. Belize’s Ministry of Health & Wellness continues to encourage all persons to wear face masks properly, maintain physical distance, wash and sanitize hands regularly, avoid crowds, and get vaccinated.
