Get Festive in Belize This Holiday Season With These Resort Events

And just like that – 2023 is quickly coming to an end. But before you start toasting to new beginnings, say hello to the holidays in Belize. All over the country, Christmas trees have been lit, and public squares are decked out with colorful lights galore. If you’re hoping to get extra festive in Belize this December, be sure to keep an eye on these resort holiday happenings. 

Cayo District

The Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant has a full lineup of events on its 2023 Festive Calendar. That includes a Christmas movie night on December 20th, with a showing of Home Alone. Then, on Christmas Eve, their onsite restaurant, The Grove House will come alive in the evening for a three-course dinner accompanied by live violin music. A cookie decoration workshop follows on Christmas Day as well as dinner and live music. There will also be a three-course dinner on Boxing Day, and finally, guests will be able to bring in the New Year with a bang at The Cliff, complete with wine & cheese, fireworks, and a string quartet.

Further out west, San Ignacio Resort Hotel will be hosting spectacular holiday events all month long, having started with complimentary hot chocolate at breakfast for guests on December 1st. Later in the month, on December 17th, the resort will be having a “holiday brunch with Santa”. They will also be hosting special dinners on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, followed by a bubbly brunch celebration on January 1st.

Outside of town, Ka’ana Resort will be offering daily Christmas Cocktail Happy Hour at the Wallace Bar, starting December 22nd through to January 2nd. Ka’ana’s holiday calendar also features a Christmas Tree lighting on December 9th, a wine and cheese evening on December 17th, and early morning birdwatching on the 19th. Not an early riser? Swap out bird-watching for some late-night stargazing or cookie decoration classes instead. 

Ambergris Caye

For delectable Holiday eats, be sure to book a table at Victoria House Resort & Spa. This award-winning Ambergris Caye hotel is hosting a special Christmas Dinner as well as a New Year’s Eve Dinner, complete with three courses and tropical cocktails

Up north, enjoy rooftop views at Grand Caribe’s Rain Restaurant for Christmas. They’ll be serving up a traditional holiday feast alongside live music. This rooftop eatery found north of San Pedro town will also be the place to bring in 2024 on New Year’s Eve. Keep an eye out for more details on the restaurant’s Facebook page. 

Hopkins

South of Hopkins Village proper, The Lodge at Jaguar Reef, like its sister properties, has a month full of festive events. They include three-course dinners with live Garifuna Drumming near the beach. And, guests will also get the chance to sign up for a cookie decorating workshop on Christmas Day. For New Year’s Eve, toast goodbye to 2023 with your nearest and dearest, a glass of champagne, and the beauty of Belize’s southern beaches. 

Placencia Peninsula

At It’zana Resort and Residences, it’s all about brunch and Christmas markets in Belize this December. Things kick off on December 6th with a holiday mixology class. Then, on December 10th, it’s the event that the entire Peninsula looks forward to – the End of the World Marathon (which will be followed by a special Itz’ana Bazaar). Later on in the month, expect paddleboard tournaments, Christmas dinner, and even a chocolate party for the kids. On November 31st, toast goodbye to December with Itz’ana’s annual New Year’s party.

For something more laidback, head to Sirenian Bay for Movie Nights at the Pool at Inky’s. They’ll be airing three movies this December, including The Grinch on Christmas Eve. There will even be a shuttle providing transportation to those who would like to attend.

Meanwhile, this December, Umaya Resort will be the setting for Placencia’s annual mistletoe ball on December 16th. It’s an elegant affair complete with drinks, dinner, and live music. And, tickets are on sale now. The resort will also be hosting festive events all month long, including dinner at Christmas and New Year’s.
