What is more romantic than a dreamy island vacation in Belize? Imagine relaxing with your loved one on a white sand beach, sipping drinks, holding hands – not a care in the world. All of your romantic dreams can become a reality in the beautiful country of Belize. It is a land of many islands, or “cayes”, as they are called. Here are just a few that could be your perfect escape.

Thatch Caye

Get lost in love with the overwater bungalows and island cabanas of Thatch Caye Resort. Sitting on its own private island off the coast of Dangriga, only 30 guests at a time can stay at this picture-perfect destination. For this reason, guests are guaranteed a unique, private experience. The island feels deserted in all the right ways, with a peaceful atmosphere, lush Belizean foliage, and pristine beaches. Not to mention, you won’t even notice you’re staying at an eco-resort! Unplug and focus on what matters most: each other.

This private island located close to the Belize Barrier Reef offers an exclusive resort experience for its guests. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed, so you and your partner can enjoy some privacy. You an even book the whole island for a romantic destination wedding. Guests each have their own luxurious cabana on the beach, making it easy to enjoy a morning swim or practice yoga poses while watching the sun rise. For those who like adventure, diving, fishing and snorkeling trips are available.

Like Ray Caye, Tobacco Caye provides privacy. However unlike Ray Caye, the atmosphere here is rustic. This dreamy Belize island is an ecotourist destination; international travellers come here for adventure and to be close to nature. Whether you want to go backpacking, fishing, diving or snorkeling, this is the place for you. You can visit Glover’s Reef or the Great Blue Hole to enjoy diving or go manatee spotting along the Tobacco Range or Man-O-War Caye.

Located 45 minutes by boat from both Ambergris Caye and Belize City, Caye Caulker is a small gem. Only a mile long and two blocks wide, its secluded coves are surrounded by azure water. Pelicans play along the docks of the charming village. Walking down its main street, you’ll delight in the rainbow hues as each hotel, restaurant, bar and boutique is painted in a different vibrant color. A hurricane cut the island in two in 1961. As a result, “The Split” has turned into a delightful gathering place. You can lounge in an Adirondack chair and sip Belikin beer with your loved one while you feel your worries slip away.

As you can see, Belize has a wide variety of dreamy islands for your romantic getaway. Whatever you and yours enjoy, there is an island that will exceed your expectations. Header photo of Tobacco Caye Paradise courtesy Duarte Dellarole.
