Everything To Know About Alaia Belize’s Reef Houses

by Carolee Chanona

Arguably one of the top-rated hotels on the island, Alaia Belize on Ambergris Caye sits on 1,000 feet of Mar de Tumbo beach, a pristine ribbon of Caribbean shoreline. Fresh from its recent May 2021 grand opening, Alaia Belize offers three different experiences onsite its Marriot branded property as an Autograph Collection resort, and we’re here to guide you through one in particular. Meet the Alaia Reef Houses: the family-style villas featuring ocean views and a more secluded stay in Belize. After all, a family vacation on an island in the sun is better in Belize.

These Are Alaia’s Family-Friendly Suites To Stay

Those well familiar with the town of San Pedro of Ambergris Caye may remember Banyan Bay Suites; the premier beachfront property on Ambergris Caye and the older sister property of Grand Colony Island Villas. A complete renovation of the suites later, the newly built Alaia Belize premiered them as its Reef Houses, found adjacent to its Reef Vistas and Reef Villas.

On entrance to the Reef House’s section, a grand lobby with wooden tiles and lofty ceilings welcome you into the K’in Spa & Wellness Center. Indulge in single or couple treatments, like the Swedish-inspired SeaBreeze massage, or take advantage of the full service fitness center.

R&R Inside The Reef Houses

It’s here that a total of eight Reef Houses surround the House Pool, a three-level pool with a large wading and play area — perfect for multi-generational escapes in Belize. If that’s not enough, Alaia Belize also has a mini-playground area perfect for playing in the sand. Adults can hang back at any one of the loungers surrounding the pool or at the sandy-floored walk-up Beach Bar, serving the Alaia Tropical Pale Ale — the exclusive craft brew by Belikin Beer.

Located on the south side of the island a mere one mile from San Pedro Town, each Reef House suite is equipped with a furnished balcony, personal safe, central air conditioning, a full kitchen and two full bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. Inside, natural light and soothing turquoise and cobalt color palettes add a splash of tropical luxury. Design touches like rustic stone, reclaimed woods, linen curtains and textured walls create an inviting retreat just steps from the sand.

After all, Alaia’s original Caribbean style Reef House features a secluded, family-style location with 2 and 3 bedroom suites, complete with a complimentary crib if needed. Not to mention, its own pool, lush gardens, and beachfront dining with The Deck and The Beach Bar. Alaia’s Reef Houses are perfect for a secluded, family-friendly stay on Ambergris Caye, Belize.
