Having been celebrated all over the globe for centuries, the summer solstice is believed by many to represent renewal and rebirth. Various cultures commemorate the day through festivals and gatherings, like watching the sunrise at sites of importance like Stonehenge and Chichen Itza. In the yoga community, the day is seen as the perfect moment to awaken the body and realign the mind, especially after the dreary winter months.
