Reel in a big one this year at one of the Caribbean’s biggest and most anticipated fishing competitions. The 9th annual Grand Caribe Deep Sea Classic takes place this summer on August 1st and 2nd. For one unforgettable weekend, deep-sea fishing enthusiasts from across the region will be flocking to the island of Ambergris Caye where Grand Caribe will be playing host to two days of fun on the sea and onshore.
What to Expect from San Pedro’s Biggest Fishing Event
As always, anglers taking part in the fishing competition can expect thousands of dollars in prizes. That includes signed and framed Carey Chen artwork for the top three boats. Last year’s event saw record-breaking numbers of participants and the 2025 classic is sure to be just as big. From thrilling catches out at sea to exciting after-parties, Grand Caribe promises a fantastic experience for all.
Reel in all the accolades alongside your favorite fishing buddies with categories like heaviest wahoo, top angler, and top boat. Last year’s classic saw a total of 24 billfish caught (and released)—including 21 Blue Marlins, 1 White Marlin, 1 Sail Fish, and 1 Spear Fish—as well as 24 Tunas, 8 Wahoos, and 172 Dorados.
The overall winner for 2024, Team Rumba from El Salvador, earned 10,055 points after reeling in four blue marlins. The team received a check for $135,000, a beautiful Carey Chen original piece of art, and the 2024 grand prize trophy.
