by Dion Vansen

Peak luxury, a helicopter tour in Belize is an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for a sky tour like no other. As you leave the Philip Goldson International Airport found north of Belize City before embarking to your jungle lodge or a Caribbean island, sit back and soak in the picture-perfect vistas. Get your camera ready and immortalize this moment. We are going to look at what are the expected sights when you head west to the mountains and/or when you head east towards the Caribbean Sea towards one of Belize’s most popular islands, Ambergris Caye. Both helicopter transfers are unique in their own way, and neither should be missed if the opportunity presents itself. After all, Belize is particularly beautiful from above.

Your transfer will be via Astrum Helicopters. One option is to fly there directly through what is known as the ‘Blue Route.’ This route will have you in awe as you fly over villages, lagoons, creeks, and over the green rainforest canopy. According to the details of this transfer, you may even be able to spot wildlife as the helicopter flies over these areas heading west of the country.

Before landing at a world-renowned jungle lodge—destinations include Ka’ana Resort, Gaia Riverlodge, Blancaneaux Lodge, Hidden Valley Inn and more—the Belize River and lush landscape of the Cayo District will treat you with more unforgettable views.

Transfers to Ambergris Caye

Astrum Helicopters also uses the ‘Blue Route’ for a direct approach to Ambergris Caye’s town of San Pedro. This is a short flight from the international airport heading directly over the Caribbean Sea flying over the tiny islands of ‘Hen and Chicken’. As the chopper approaches the southern tip of Ambergris Caye it flies over Cangrejo Caye before heading to the final destination which could be the John Greif II Municipal Airport or one of the resorts with a helipad, like Grand Caribe or Matachica Resort.

Another route to Ambergris Caye also includes a fly over the Belize Barrier Reef System. This is a good opportunity for videos or pictures. According to the route, some of the islands identified include Montego Caye and Coffee Caye before heading to Ambergris Caye. Other options include flying over the Caye Caulker famous Split. The vistas are just spectacular making the transfer super popular.
