What’s Happening in Belize in March 2023

The month of March is well underway, with the iconic La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge having reached its dramatic conclusion this past weekend. But if you missed the quintessential March event, fret not. There’s still tons to do and see this month. Here’s the rundown of what’s happening in Belize in March 2023.

March 4th – March 11: Reef Week

A celebration of the Belize Barrier Reef and all it does for the country, this week-long event is an annual happening. Organized by Belize’s conservation NGOs, tourism stakeholers, Krem television, and the Belize Tourism Board, Reef Week features a number of fun and educational events. They include an eight mile marathon, beach cleanups, virtual discussions, and so much more.

March 9th: Di Bruwry Full Brew (Full Moon) Party

Let loose under the light of the full moon at Belize’s largest pub and brewery. Di Bruwry’s Full Brew Party is set to take place on March 9th from 7PM to 12PM. It’s an outdoor glow party, and the dress code is all white. So, pick out your best fit and make your table reservations.

March 11th: Women in Stride 5K Race (Belize City)

Run for a good cause with the Women in Stride 5K Race. It’s held annually in celebration of women in sports and International Women’s Day.  The race starts near the Marion Jones Sporting Complex at 6:30 am and is completely free to enter.  Learn more and register here.

March 11th: Mr. Dapper Session at Itz’ana Resort

In case you didn’t know, Itz’ana Resort & Residences in Placencia has a dynamic calendar of events and activities that’s regularly updated. This month, one of the highlight activities is the Mr. Dapper Session inside the picturesque Biblio Bar. Enjoy an exclusive soiree accompanied by the titular mascot, Mr. Dapper, alongside live DJs and exquisite gastronomy.

March 11th: The Boracho Cup Disc Golf Tournament

The disc golf scene in Belize is a burgeoning one. On Saturday, March 11, head to the Cerros Maya Disc Golf Course for the 2023 Borracho Cup. March 11th: Unplugged with Marlyn Vansen at Cork Street

Unplugged at Cork Street is back again this month. This time, Belize’s beloved artist and M.S warrior, Marlyn Vansen, will be gracing the Belize City whiskey bar with her musical stylings.  Reservations are required, so don’t forget to call in or send a Whatsapp message to secure a table.

March 16th – 18th: Women in Art Launch and Art Exhibit

Women in Art serves to celebrate Belize’s women creatives, from writers and poets to dancers and painters. The Institute of Creative Arts will be celebrating Women’s History Month with a series of events including writing workshops, a pop up shop and more. It all culminates on March 16th with the launch of the Women in Art Exhibit at the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts.

March 18th: Women’s Month Power Run (San Pedro, Ambergris Caye)

In the same vein of Women’s History Month celebrations, the Women’s Month Power Run will be taking place in San Pedro on the 18th. It kicks off bright and early at 6:30 AM and runners can go for 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles).

Participants are asked to wear purple to show support for the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women throughout the world. The registration fee is BZ $20. Learn more and register here.

March 25th: Earth Hour

Turn off your lights for Mother Earth this March with “the Biggest Hour for Earth”. Earth Hour takes places on Sat, Mar 25, 2023 from 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM, local time.  This global grassroots movement aims to unite people to take action on environmental issues and protect the planet.
