As vaccination rates rise, millions are on the move again. And airlines have taken notice, dipping into a pocket of pent-up travel demand with the Caribbean being a primary market for recovery; given over 40 percent of GDP in Belize dependent on tourism, this is cause for optimism. The joys of normal life — Thanksgiving getaways, winter vacations and guilt-free social gatherings — are on the horizon. But first, you’ve got to get there. With Hon. Anthony Mahler, Belize’s Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations, signaling a 70 percent recovery of last year’s statistics, increased routes are expected to come from Europe and United States for the remainder of the year. Winter typically marks an uptick in arrivals as Belize’s traditionally busy season for tourism, so here’s all the ways to fly to Belize for Thanksgiving and Winter 2021.

Airline Carriers Servicing Belize: Seasonal & Annual Schedule

WestJet

Back on the schedule, WestJet is slated to resume non-stop seasonal flights to Belize from Toronto and Calgary starting November 3, 2021. Canada continues to maintain its status as the third largest tourism source market to Belize after the United States and Europe. Tickets are now available for purchase online, with direct flights from Calgary (YYC) at 6 hours 20 minutes and Toronto (YYZ) at 4 hours 46 minutes.

American Airlines

As the first airline to touch the tarmac after seven long months of Belize’s border closures, American Airlines returned in October 2020. Today, travelers can enjoy non-stop service from Miami (MIA) in 2 hours 5 minutes, Dallas Ft. Worth (DFW) in 2 hours 50 minutes, and Charlotte (CLT) in 3 hours 25 minutes. Tickets are available for purchase now on aa.com.

Alaska Airlines

Just in time for the holiday season, the West Coast-based carrier expands its Central American footprint with inaugural service to Belize, found in the far Western Caribbean. Offering a seasonal schedule, Alaska Airlines will operate four times a week from Los Angeles (LAX) at 5 hours of flight time, as well as twice weekly service from Seattle (SEA) at 7 hours flight time. Service to Belize via Alaska Airlines starts November 19, 2021.

United Airlines

Offering the most connectivity to the United States of America, United Airlines operates with five (5) non-stop routes to Belize. Travelers to Belize can benefit from three weekly flights departing from Denver (DEN) and Newark (EWR) as June 2021. Chicago-based travelers can enjoy weekly ORD flights to Belize through September 2021. Last but not least, travelers departing Houston (HOU) can enjoy as much as 14 weekly flights in August.

SunCountry Airlines

Minnesotans and other Mid-Western travelers can enjoy non-stop seasonal Saturday service to Belize, once weekly from Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP). Sun Country’s new nonstop flight from Minneapolis to Belize City marks our farthest reach into the Upper Midwest — an area of the U.S. that can really benefit from easy access to a tropical Belizean vacation when winter comes.

Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines relaunched service to Belize in November 2020 with non-stop service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), clocking in at just over 3 hours of flight time. Atlanta is the home of Delta’s largest international hub, with Delta currently ranked as the second-largest airline globally, having been overtaken in passenger numbers and revenue by American Airlines following its merger with US Airways.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines makes its official return to Belize starting November 7, 2021, via Houston (HOU) and Denver (DEN). Travelers can enjoy non-stop service from Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport Sunday to Saturday at 2 hours 20 minutes flight time, and a direct flight from Denver International Airport at 5 hours flight time. Pre-pandemic, Southwest also offered non-stop service from Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Copa Airlines

With June 2, 2021 marking its official return, Copa Airlines offers non-stop, twice-weekly service to Belize through the Hub of the Americas in Panama City, Panama (PTY). Not only does Copa connect Belize (BZE) to multiple partners through Star Alliance, but represents a competitive link to the Caribbean, Central American, South American and even European market.
