Despite the twists and turns of the past year caused by COVID-19, this spring an impressive array of hotels around the world will finally open their doors. From Doha to Osaka, Forbes’s hot list of openings includes properties across the world for eager globe trotters to try. Included on this list is Alaia Belize. Here is everything we know about this new May hotel opening.
The property will sit beachfront on Ambergris Caye. Nicknamed ‘La Isla Bonita’ this small but bustling island sits at the southern end of the Belize Barrier Reef. The island itself has been slated many times over as a leading destination to visit.
In 2017, for the third year in a row, Ambergris Caye was named “Mexico and Central America’s Leading Destination” by World Travel Awards.
Not only is it beautiful, but it’s also affordable. In addition, the country is easy to get too. For example, Miami is only a 2-hour flight, whilst New York is only a 4 hour flight time. Also, there are flights from 18 cities in 7 countries on 9 airlines.
The ideal balance between sophisticated modern design and authentic Belizean soul.
The developers of this new property have paid special attention to every detail of Alaia’s design. Renowned Brazilian designer Debora Aguiar, who is known for her eco-luxury aesthetics, has led the interiors project.
Designed to highlight the splendor of its natural surroundings, the residences will feature approximately 70 percent of fabrics and raw materials from Belize. This includes rustic marbles and stones, reclaimed wood, linen curtains, textured beige walls and earth-toned hues. Of course, all of these simply complement the awe-inspiring views of the Caribbean Sea.
The Alaia Belize Lifestyle is curated to echo and embrace the Belizean spirit with genuine hospitality, barefoot luxury and an adventurous soul.
The Alaia amenities are what really makes this property stand out. Notably, the resort has three pools, one of which is the country’s first suspended rooftop pool complete with a roof terrace.
There are a further 3 restaurants and bars on-site, and a private beach club for guests. Taking full advantage of the reef on its doorstep, the hotel will have its own dive center, as well as, water sports and sailing club. In addition, the property will have its own live art gallery, piano bar, and wine club. Of course, a dedicated team of friendly staff and concierge are on hand to help guests with any request, no matter how small.
