4 Belize Hotels We’re Dreaming of Returning To

Over the years of traveling in Belize, we’ve learned a thing (or two) about what makes a hotel standout.

Where you stay on your Belize vacation should not just be where you lay your head at night, but rather an experience in itself. The intricacies of a hotel make or break your stay – that matters. Stargazing over the Caribbean Sea from the window arch of your room, a complimentary wake-up call by howler monkeys in the jungle, or the impossibly fluffy Fry Jacks with room service for brunch in bed. Those are the details that make a trip unforgettable.

Like many of you, we’ve been tapping into the memory of these details (mental souvenirs, if you will) for a little escapism during COVID-19’s stay-at-home orders. When travel does open back up, odds are these are the first Belize hotels we’ll be checking into.

SunBreeze Hotel

SunBreeze Hotel offers the perfect tropical getaway within a stroll of the quaint town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Within a 5-minute walk from the San Pedro airport, this Caribbean-style hotel is your beachfront escape without sacrificing any of the conveniences of its great location. Choose between dining beachfront at their on-site restaurant Blue Water Grill, booking a scuba diving excursion to the nearby Great Blue Hole, and a spa experience. Or, simply sunbathe at the private pool a few steps outside your room with views of the Caribbean Sea and its tropical gardens.

Ray Caye Island Resort

Located near the Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve, Ray Caye is the ultimate private island experience. Powered by over 600 solar panels, this self-sustaining enterprise utilizes a hydroponic organic garden, a desalination plant, and nature’s bounty to be completely self-sustaining. Explore offshore by jet ski, fresh seafood ceviche at their Lionfish Grill, or simply enjoy the sunset with a cocktail in hand on the South Dock. All 20 rooms on-site offer a glimpse at the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, while their new open-air honeymoon villas allow for a romantic haven.

Turtle Inn  – A Family Coppola Hideaway Resort

Unplug in opulence at Turtle Inn, a Family Coppola Hideaway in Southern Belize. The tranquil escape features 25 seafront Balinese-style private cottages and villas alongside a beautiful stretch of the Caribbean Sea near Placencia. Outside your room through beach sand and stone walkways leads you to the beach, 3 restaurants, 2 bars, and 2 outdoor pools. Need more? Escape your idyllic refuge for a short bike ride to nearby fishing village Placencia to experience its charm. All this, plus a number of nearby guided excursions, will make your Belize adventures feel bigger than life.
