Southwest Implementing Changes to its Face Covering Policy
If you are thinking about travelling, be sure to pack your face mask. Southwest is not allowing guests to travel unless they wear a face masks. No one is except apart from children under the age of 2. The airlines face-coving policy has become even more strict since its first implementation of the policy on July 27. As of August 08, 2020 the policy has been revised. It now takes into account the type of masks that are considered appropriate.
In a article shared by Travel Pulse it acknowledges that Southwest will only accept well-secured masks that fit snugly against the face, coving individual’s nose and mouth and secured under the chin. This is in line with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines. Masks that have holes like exhaust valves, bandanas and face shields without a covering over the mouth and nose are not acceptable.
To meet guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Southwest will only accept well-secured face coverings that fit snugly against the face, cover an individual’s nose and mouth and secured under the chin.
Other precautions taken by the airline include the blocking of middle seats to maintain space between passengers through to at least October. In addition, Southwest is providing sanitizing wipes to customers, upon request, to wipe down any onboard surface.
