Along the windward coast of San Pedro Town here in Belize, the option for a succulent grub is almost endless, but finding that perfect spot can be overwhelming sometimes. If you are looking for a simple seafront view, an easy-going ambiance, and of course, delicious food, then Lily’s Treasure Chest should be your pick for seafood on the seafront.  In fact, Lily’s will make you feel right at home here in the Caribbean with its fabulous location. Finding Lily’s is very easy considering it’s directly on the beach north of Central Park from the well-known Barrier Reef Drive in downtown San Pedro. Although it is in the middle of many tourist places, this restaurant is very popular with island residents and tourists alike. It is ideal for family reunions or to just enjoy a quiet Sunday afternoon with some of their signature grub, like classic Belizean ceviche.

What foodies can find at Lily’s

Open from 7 am except for Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 am, this family-run local restaurant offers some of the best selection of seafood and beachside dining, serving breakfast until midday. There is the option to dine indoors, but the sandy outdoor patio is everyone’s favorite. I mean, with the company of swaying coconut trees and the view of the second largest barrier reef in the world, enjoy your Belizean breakfast with freshly made fry jacks, toasts, tortillas, or breakfast potatoes. Omelets, burritos, and huevos rancheros are also some of the other preferred items on their menu for an early start.

And for lunch, no meal on the island is complete without the iconic Belizean rice and beans with your meat of choice: chicken or fish. Lily’s also does quick finger-food bites well with their fajitas, sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, nachos, and BBQ wings. Wash it all down with a cold Belikin beer or refreshing natural juice like fresh-squeezed lime. In the evenings, pepper steak for dinner churns out in high demand with complimentary chips and pico de gallo.

Seafood is the winner

When it comes to enjoying one of the most popular seafood treats on the island, Lily’s ceviche is the best pick-me-up for a late afternoon. Besides the seasonal conch, shrimp, or fish ceviche, their tropical ceviche is unique and full of exquisite flavorful twists. When in season, it comes with succulent chunks of mango and even pineapple. This is the perfect balance of sweet and sour indeed! If that is not enough and you want to try a bit of everything, then go for the seafood sampler plate. Battered in their secret recipe, it promises to hook you in for the best tropical gastronomical experience of your life in the Caribbean.

While seafood is the specialty, Lily’s also accommodates vegetarians, so this tropical food oasis with San Pedro’s million-dollar view has a space for everyone. It doesn’t matter what time of the day it is. Hungry and want to enjoy great food in good company and with a tranquil atmosphere? Then look no more and make your way to Lily’s Treasure Chest
