While travel in itself is a luxury, it also serves as a gateway into a world of self-discovery, enrichment, and broadened perspectives. From being able to experience, and in many cases support, local communities to learning to appreciate diversity, the beauty of travel extends far beyond the simple pleasure of getting to see new places.

Join us in celebrating the remarkable women contributors who bring diverse perspectives, passion, and a spirit of wanderlust to our travel narratives. In honor of International Women’s Day, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the adventurous women who make up the heart and soul of the Caribbean Culture + Lifestyle editorial team. This month, we asked our women writers where in Belize they are most looking forward to visiting in 2024 and beyond. Here’s what they had to say.
Where the Writers of CC+L Are Hoping to Travel in Belize
Khaila – Editorial Director
“Last year, I got to experience Ray Caye for the first time, and I’ve been longing to go back ever since. Everyone on the island is so amazing—it’s really easy to feel right at home there. I love that they do a yearly local promo in the summer and I’m hoping to take advantage of that.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is on my must-visit-again list, too after a solo trip there last summer. I also want to visit the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. I’ve recently fallen in love with hiking and it’s the perfect place to do just that.”

“This year, I’ve set my sights on two destinations: Gaia Riverlodge in Cayo and Ray Caye in southern Belize. These places resonate with me as sanctuaries where I can reconnect with my higher self.

I haven’t been to Gaia before, but it’s long been on my bucket list. At both places, I see myself immersing in holistic practices, engaging in heart-to-heart conversations with like-minded women, and embracing the transformative power of sisterhood.”

“I’m really hoping to explore Gales Point this year. Ben Low Man Cave and the lagoon have been on my list for ages. Also, I’d love to delve deeper into Toledo! There’s so much to be explored down there still.

Up north, I haven’t been to Sarteneja yet, but I’m hoping to be able to visit as a side trip when we go to Corozal for my little guy’s youth sailing regatta. There are so many adventures still to be had!”

“One place that I haven’t visited as yet but I’m hoping to see soon is The Great Blue Hole. I would especially love to witness it from above on a flyover tour. I would also love to try out night hiking. A night hike in Mountain Pine Ridge or the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary would be amazing. I would also love to visit the Chiquibul Forest Reserve out west.”
