Whether you love admiring sweeping landscapes from atop ancient temples or venturing deep into the belly of the earth, Belize is a treasure trove of memorable experiences for the history and adventure buff. The country offers a wide selection of archaeological sites to choose from. That includes everything from the ever-popular ATM cave to the far off-the-beaten-path Nim Li Punit in Toledo.  Regardless of what your future Belize travels hold though, do be sure to make a note of the upcoming changes in entrance fees for Belize’s archaeological sites.

An Increase in Entrance Fees for Belize’s Sites

According to a release by Belize’s Institute of Archaeology (IA), entrance fees for Belize’s archaeological reserves are set to increase in 2024. This increase will ensure the continued preservation and conservation of these invaluable pieces of Belizean and Maya heritage for generations to come. It will also contribute to the improvement of visitor experiences at the sites. Belize’s tourism industry is rapidly growing. To meet the demands of this, a fee increase is necessary, says the IA.

The increase is set to take effect on November 1st, 2024. Here is the official list of sites whose fees – for both residents and non-residents – will be changing:
