In case you’re looking for somewhere to watch the NBA Finals, Super Bowl, or even just punta contests throughout the year, the Placencia Peninsula is packed with sports bars to root for your favorite team while enjoying great food and drinks. However, none quite do it as well as Tipsy Tuna; found on the seaside, the small shack opened in 2000 has evolved into a two-story lively sports bar, spanning from the sidewalk to the seaside, with its own air-conditioned sports lounge serving craft beer on draft. Go in for a good drink and an upbeat atmosphere, but stay for the 23 years of service, weekly cultural entertainment, a game of beach volleyball, or even dinnertime karaoke.

Tipsy Tuna (as everyone on the Peninsula calls it) is also the heart of the Tipsy Strip, a slew of restaurants and shops on the Placencia sidewalk. Downstairs, casual and colorful wooden furniture and bar-high people-watching spots make up most of the open-air bar, which even spills out onto the sand of the beachfront. Meanwhile, upstairs is a recently renovated air-conditioned that’s spacious, bright, and littered with sports memorabilia, local artwork, and cool coastal decor.

The bar has a daily rotating drink menu for specials, but a big draw is Belikin’s Two5 craft bar on draft, which is probably one of only two places serving it on the entire Peninsula. Boozy slushies, an outdoor open deck, plus lots of bar game distractions on hand, make Tipsy Tuna a winner on both game days and just regular old Thursdays.
