October is traditionally a time when most would avoid traveling to places like Belize. In part this is due to the fact that the country is in the hurricane season and the weather can be unpredictable. However, they do not realize that there are hidden perks that will make your Belize getaway to places like Ambergris Caye much better and adventurous. There is a huge difference in many aspects such as crowds, space and the ambiance will agree with those travelers looking for a more relaxed trip. Still curious? Here is what you can expect when traveling to Ambergris Caye in October.Â
Good weather and less crowds

While October is traditionally a slower time for tourism, this means that there is lots of availability in hotels, and this means cheaper prices for accommodation as well. On Ambergris Caye, some hotels and restaurants close for a few weeks for renovations and to give their staff some time off, however, others remain open. With less tourists in town, you will feel like a local and enjoy all the deals available during October at shops, restaurants, and bars.Â
Another difference you will notice is the weather. You may have rains at night and early in the mornings, but the weather throughout the day is a bit cooler and less humid. Most of the days get plenty of sunshine, perfect to get out and have some fun. October brings perfect weather for sailing, snorkeling, fishing, and swimming at sea. Â
FoodÂ

Come October and the annual conch season opens and is time for ceviche. You can eat this seafood delicacy in ceviche, in soup or conch fritters. There are other tasty conch dishes, including traditional Tapao and even conch sandwiches.Â
No sargassumÂ

The brown algae known as Sargassum usually starts to invade the beaches from around March. After it beaches on the shore it rots making the beach unattractive and a stinking place. Although the public areas are kept clean thanks to the hard work of volunteers and municipal workers, there seems to be no Sargassum in October. The white sandy beaches are cleaner, and the shoreline is pristine and perfect for a swim. Feel free to take a dip from in front of your accommodation, the beach in town or from a pier. And the moment to admire some of the best sunrises and sunsets compared to other times during the year.Â
So, if you don’t like the large crowds, hot and humid days, October may be a good time for you to travel and enjoy Ambergris Caye, Belize. Book your vacation ahead of the hard winter today!Â
