Goodbye August, Hello September

The month of August was one of great excitement and activity! Looking at the month at a glance San Pedro seemed like the place to be! The island hosted the annual Costa Maya Festival and the 2nd Annual Grand Caribe Deep Sea Classic Fishing Tournament.

Costa Maya Festival

Costa Maya Festival, the largest cultural festival on the island took place on August 2nd -5th. The four-day celebration started out with a bang with sensational entertainment. Of course, Ivy Queen got crowds going performing hit songs likeCuentale, DimeandQue Lloren. Surely, the highlight of all was the crowning of Miss Costa Maya International 2018-2019, the largest beauty pageant held in Belize.

This year Ms Honduras, Mary Cruz Cardona Galindo took home the title as “La Reina del Mundo Maya”. Ms. Costa Rica, Adriana Moya Alvarado placed 2nd runner up.

If you missed Costa Maya this year, not to worry it will be back again next year!

Miss Universe Belize

Speaking of Beauty Pageants, this month the Miss Universe Belize beauty pageant was in Belize City at the Belize Biltmore Plaza. Eleven beautiful contestants graced the stage in hopes of taking home the title of Miss Universe Belize 2018. However, Jenelli Fraser, a 27-year-old from Belize City was crowned the new Miss Universe Belize 2018-2019. She will thus represent Belize at the 67thannual Miss Universe Pageant. It will be on December 16th, 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Beautiful young ladies were not the only ones getting attention this month. At the 2nd Annual Grand Caribe Deep Sea Classic Fishing Tournament, fish were making a splash! Wahoo, dorado, tuna, barracuda were all caught! Finally, after two days of spectacular fishing, Team Noh Worry Bout Nothin secured a first-place finish with a Marline Release.

If you also missed the fishing tournament this month, then don’t worry. The 10th Annual Blue Water Classic Fishing Tournament will be hosted on October 13th and 14th at South Water Caye.

Hello September

August may be over but the festivities continue on. September is jam-packed with celebrations honoring the countries patriotic freedom.
