Safeguard your Trip to Belize with Travel Insurance

The future of travel is still unknown, which is why there is a need for protection. Besides, travel insurance has always been recommended when booking a holiday. And in the times of COVID-19, the value of travel insurance speaks for itself. Insurance may not be able help people avoid misfortunes during travel, but it helps travelers be financially prepared in the event of. Some added benefits from having insurance is that its provides protection for travel cancellations and interruptions; it also provides financial compensation for unforeseen expenses. However, the benefits are all dependent on the policy you choose.

A Shift in Travel Insurance

During the pandemic there was an overload of cancellations caused. Many travelers were left at a loss, while some travelers were able to get some credit or compensation for the interruptions in travel plans. Looking at the fine print, there were not many policies that covered a pandemic. With the pandemic far from over, companies and destinations are now looking at ways to safeguard one’s travel accordingly.

Alternatives to Travel Protection Plans

To ensure you are getting the best protection coverage, there are ways to get reimbursement. Some credit cards offer travel benefits; booking your trip on a credit card offers these perks. For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve offers 3 times Chase Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent on all travel and dining purchases. Chase Sapphire Reserve also offers trip cancellation or interruption coverage. If your trip is canceled or cut short due to severe weather, illness or another eligible reason, you’ll be reimbursed up to US$10,000 per person and up to US$20,000 per trip for nonrefundable trip expenses.

Apart from credit cards, membership programs are other great ways to gain travel protection. Some membership programs such as Global Guardian covers medical evacuations or emergencies, which act as substitutes or fill certain gaps not found in travel insurance plans.

Planning for the Future

Before planning a trip, be sure to familiarize yourself with the destination new travel requirements.  Some destinations may require insurance. For instance, in Aruba there is a mandatory insurance required for visitors. Although not all places require insurance,  it is always recommended to purchase travel insurance for your trip. Belize for now does not require the purchase of travel insurance but has other various entry requirements.
