The Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA ) has reopened after being battered by Hurricane Lisa on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022. Hurricane Lisa made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane near Belize City. Â As of November 3rd National Emergency Management Organization ( NEMO) has given the all clear sign, with the International Airport reopening and resuming operations at 11AM, today November 3rd. The Philip Goldson International Airport is Belize’s main airport and the only international airport in the country.

Hurricane Lisa made landfall in Belize City on Wednesday November 2nd approximately 10 miles south of Belize City at 3:15pm. According to Chief Meteorologist, Ronald Gordon Hurricane Lisa made landfall with maximum sustained winds of 85mph. Â After making landfall in Belize the storm moved across into northern Guatemala, and southeastern Mexico.
