La Isla Bonita has done it again: Belize’s number one travel destination, Ambergris Caye, has once again won a TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Award. Ranking at #18 for Best of the Best Nature Destinations in the world, the Northern Island has been praised for being a “just right” destination. Listed alongside destinations like Cozumel (#17) and Barbados (#19), the island is, according to travelers, one of the best places to “disconnect in nature”.
Ambergris Caye hovers in a vacation sweet spot: just enough amenities to make it exciting, but not so overdeveloped that you’re tripping over flip-flopped tourists. A mangrove swamp is the eye of this white beach island, the largest in Belize, and golf carts are the main form of transportation along the sandy roads
Notably, Ambergris Caye has moved up the awards list, having been ranked as #23 last year.
