Belize Removes One-Day Quarantine in Revised Entry Requirements

by Carolee Chanona

At Belize’s October 1 reopening, entry requirements for various classifications of traveler carry slight variations. However, new entry requirements, revised September 23 by the Belize Tourism Board, effectively waives the mandatory one-day quarantine; previously, a mandatory one-day quarantine was applicable for all travelers except foreign tourists, such as Belizean residents, citizens, persons with business concerns, foreign second homeowners, qualified retired persons (QRP) and long stay, non-national visitors. Additionally, the revised entry requirements for Belizeans and Residents, along with long-stay Non-Nationals, reduces the self-quarantine at home from 14-days to 10-days instead. As a reminder, Belizean citizens and residents must apply to visit during Phase 3 of Belize’s Travel Reopening Plan; forms will be available at https://www.covid19.bz.

It should be noted that entry requirements for foreign visitors—tourists—remain the same.

Regardless of your Traveler Classification, Here’s What Every Traveler to Belize Should Do:

For all arriving passengers to Belize on and after October 1—despite nationality and purpose—must download the Belize Travel Health App and complete with the required information. Information required by the app should be filled out within 72 hours of your trip. Thereafter, you will receive a unique code as confirmation for successfully meeting all app requirements. It is important that this be done prior to arrival for a significantly reduced wait time at the airport.

The Belize Travel Health App forms DO NOT need to be filled out more than 72 hours in advance, if you do so any earlier, the unique code will expire and you will have to start the process over.

All inbound passengers will be screened on entry to Belize; in addition to undergoing non-invasive temperature checks and observation for symptoms, passengers may be subject to additional testing. Masks are required to be worn at all times throughout the entire return process from deplaning to exiting the airport.
