Did Someone Say Lobster? Belize’s 2023 Lobster Season Opens
When it comes to Belize, one of its many draws for the culinary traveler is the widespread availability of fresh and, not to mention, delectable food. That includes seafood. Almost always caught using traditional methods – including free diving – lobster is undoubtedly one of the more popular delicacies.
Enjoy it right off the grill served with a tangy garlic butter sauce, in creamy pasta like the classic alfredo, or with the quintessentially Belizean rice and beans. Better yet, sample one of the many innovative lobster dishes that have been popping up in recent years like the winner of San Pedro’s 2022 Lobster Fest: lobster hudut.

Which Lobster Fest Will You Choose?
Perhaps the most anticipated food festival in Belize, the annual lobster fest takes place later this month. Set your sights on San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker, Placencia, and even Hopkins for all things lobster this summer.
To kick things off, the festivities begin with the return of Ambergris Caye’s popular lobster crawl on July 4th. The longer-than-a-week event will be culminating on the 15th – expect beach bashes, food competitions, and a lot more from Belize’s number-one travel destination. Caye Caulker will be hosting its 3-day festival starting July 14th. The Placencia Lobster Fest in Southern Belize will take also place July 14th through 16th. But there’s also a newcomer in the world of lobster fests. For a smaller and more intimate celebration set your sights on The Lodge at Jaguar Reef for their mini-lobster fest activities on July 22nd.
