The year has just begun, but when it comes to planning a vacation, there’s no such thing as too early. That’s especially true considering that, in Belize, the dates for quite a few summer fetes and events are already out. Whether you’re hoping to “party like a lobster” on Caye Caulker for Lobster Fest or to cast your line and win big at Grand Caribe’s Deep Sea Classic, here’s why all eyes will be on Belize’s stunning Caribbean coast this summer.

Celebrate all things crustacean along the coast and on the cayes this summer in Belize. Plans for the 2024 Lobster Festival are already in the works, with the dates for both San Pedro and Placencia festivals having been announced. In San Pedro, the two-week-long lobster crawl will be taking place from July 1st to 13th. Meanwhile, Placencia’s three-day beach bash will be on July 5th, 6th, and 7th — the perfect long weekend summer getaway if you’re from the US. Caye Caulker’s Lobster Festival date is still TBD, but it’s safe to assume that it will also be held in early July.
Looking for something smaller and a bit more removed from the crowds? Head to the Lodge at Jaguar Reef in Hopkins for a mini lobster fest. Additionally, the all-inclusive, adults-only Coco Plum Island Resort hosts their own festival in the late summer/early fall.

For the fishing enthusiasts: turn to Grand Caribe Belize this summer for their annual Deep Sea Classic, the largest fishing event in Belize. The much-anticipated competition promises thousands of dollars in prizes as well as plenty of beachside fun on Ambergris Caye. Last summer, the event saw 40 registered boats taking part, with the team “Boss Gyal” ultimately walking away with the top prize. Anglers can look forward to reeling in plenty of pelagic fish, including sailfish, dorado, wahoo, blue marlin, and tuna.
The Belize International Music and Food Festival
Date: July 27th & 28th (San Pedro, Ambergris Caye)

The Belize International Music and Food Festival (BIMFF) returns this year for its third iteration, this time taking the party to the island of Ambergris Caye. Lovers of all things Caribbean music can look forward to a loaded lineup of everyone from soca heavy hitters and Belizean musical legends to dancehall kings and queens and reggae icons. This time around, festivalgoers can expect a mega concert followed by a day party on Sunday, July 28th.
Summer 2024 is already looking to be a spectacular one, so pack your bags and consider this your sign to start dreaming about Belize.
