May: Chocolate Festival of Belize

It all begins with a Chocolate Gala, hosted at Muy’Ono’s Copal Tree Lodge. This signature event will feature everything from musical performances to, of course, tons of chocolate sampling. Guests will also be able to enjoy a wide array of wines as well as the Belize-made Copalli Rum.
The following day, the focus will be on Punta Gorda Town for the family-friendly Celebrate Chocolate Market. Then, on Sunday, enjoy a day of friendly competition at the Cacao Cup. Tickets are still on sale for this Belize food festival, but act fast—they’re going quickly.
Where to stay: Copal Tree Lodge will once again be the host setting for the Chocolate Festival’s signature gala. This luxury jungle lodge sits surrounded by acres of verdant forests, just a short drive outside of Punta Gorda. For the budget-conscious, Coral House Inn sits right inside of town. This B&B offers scenic coastal views, cozy rooms, and warm Belizean hospitality.
June: Hopkins Mango Fest
The month of June is dedicated to all things mango in Belize. With the mango season in full swing, it’s a great time to sample one (or several) of the over seventy varieties of mango found in the country. One of the best places to do just that will be at the annual Hopkins Mango Street Fest on June 8th. Each year, this tiny Garifuna village on the southern coast comes alive in the name of all things mango. Expect everything from bartending competitions and fun games to artisan stalls and unique mango-inspired dishes. There is even a prize for the heaviest mango.
Where to stay: Hopkins Bay, a Muy’Ono Resort sits on the Northern end of Hopkins Village and is the perfect base for a group of mango lovers hoping to experience the festival. Hamanasi Resort, one of the sponsors for this year’s mango fest, is just a few minutes south of the village proper. With everything from beachfront studios to romantic treehouses, it’s sure to add an extra special touch to your Mango Fest trip.
July: Lobster Fest 2024
From the Northern Islands to the Southern coast, Belize really knows how to open the Caribbean Spiny Lobster season with a bang. La Isla Bonita’s annual lobster crawl will be a two-week-long event that allows festival goers to visit various participating restaurants. Then, on July 5th, the Placencia Peninsula promises three days of family fun.

Update: The Placencia Lobster Fest has been postponed from its original date to the weekend of 19th – 21st July, 2024.
July: The Belize International Music and Food Festival 3.0
Come for the musical performances; stay for the delicious Belizean cuisine. The 3rd-ever Belize International Music and Food Festival (BIMFF 3.0) takes place on July 27th and 28th. With musical heavy hitters like Collie Buddz, Shenseea, Bunji Garlin, and Prince Royce, it’s sure to be a movie. Of course, the festival would be incomplete without its food component. On Saturday, July 27th, be sure to check out the BIMFF’s street food fest. Then, take your pick from a wide selection of local vendors during the concert.
Where to stay: Recently opened, Bananas on the Beach is perfectly situated for attending BIMFF 3.0. Found just south of town, this modern resort offers cozy suite-style accommodations (and is currently offering special rates). Up north, head to The Watermark for an all-inclusive stay that’s sure to make your gig-tripping experience all the more enjoyable.
