This year, all signs are pointing to a continued increase in the global appetite for travel. And already, travel bugs across the world are mapping out how and where they will satisfy that appetite. For many North Americans, the Caribbean is the most enticing locale. With the region’s temperate weather, vast cultural richness, and close proximity to Canada and the US, it’s fairly easy to understand why. But even within the Caribbean, there are so many options to choose from when it comes to selecting a 2023 travel destination.
One country, though, has been standing out among the rest as the place to be this year. On several occasions in the past year, Belize has proved to be one of the top destinations for travel, and that trend is expected to continue, as tourism in this small but vibrant Caribbean nation continues to rebound going into 2023.
Not sure where your new year travels are going to take you? Here’s why you should choose Belize as your 2023 travel destination.

The ushering in of the New Year also comes with the influx of lists suggesting top travel destinations. And already, Belize is one of those destinations. Just this week, the writers over at CNN Travel published their “Where to Travel in 2023” list. Belize is named alongside other predicted hot spots like Laos, Greece, Brazil, Rwanda, and Tanzania.
The article highlights some of Belize’s main draws, noting that the country has much more to offer than just enticing islands.
Lush rainforests, cave networks, winding rivers and rich Mayan archaeological sites invite exploration in a country that’s had an evolving sustainable tourism master plan since 2012.
It also highlights one of several new resorts slated to open in Belize soon. Margaritaville Beach Resort, the first of its kind in Belize, is set to open on Ambergris Caye in less than 100 days.

Beating the end-of-year blues is no easy feat. But warm sunshine and lots of time connecting with nature, studies have shown, is sure to at least help. When it comes to both of those things, Belize is in no short supply. With a mean annual temperature of 79°F (26°C), Belize is an ideal location for basking in some healing sun. Couple that with the fact that more than half of the country is made up of tropical rainforest and the result is the perfect recipe for disconnecting from the world, reconnecting with the self, and finding balance. So why not add it to your list of destinations for 2023 travel?
Getting Here (And Getting Around) Is A Breeze
With over a dozen North American airlines offering direct service to Belize, getting here has never been easier. Once you’re already in the country, there are a number of convenient ways for you to get to your destination. Flying with a domestic airline will save you time and grant you scenic views of the landscape below. Meanwhile, memorable road trips will allow you the chance to immerse yourself in the culture and natural beauty of Belize.
