Belize Welcomes 2 Non-Stop Flights from LAX with United & American Air

by Carolee Chanona
As of January 2021, there’ll be two more ways to get to Belize with non-stop service from LAX on American Airlines and United Airlines. Starting January 9, the two carriers will operate weekly with Saturday-only service; while American Airlines resumes its LAX-BZE route, the new addition to United will be an inaugural flight. More airlines are adding flights, and in some cases COVID-19 testing programs, for travel to Belize and the Caribbean, a region central to carriers’ strategies to tap into pockets of holiday demand before a vaccine makes its way around the world. Now, Belize will once again have two carriers flying nonstop from Los Angeles (LAX) to Belize (BZE)!

Fly BZE-LAX with American Airlines

American Airlines’ non-stop flight departs LAX at 8:00 AM local time, arriving in BZE at 2:57 PM. Meanwhile, flight departs BZE later that day at 4:00 PM local time for a 7:31 PM arrival. Flight time averages 5 hours, with service starting as of January 9, 2021. Flights will operate every Saturday, beginning January 9, 2021, although travelers can reserve their tickets now at aa.com. This direct Los Angeles-Belize route joins American Airlines’ roster to Belize from Miami, Dallas, and Charlotte by January 2021.

Fly BZE-LAX with United Airlines

United Airlines’ inaugural non-stop service to Belize via its Los Angeles (LAX) hub also starts January 9, 2021 with a mid-morning departure. The airline will fly a Boeing 737-800 to Belize City. Flight departs LAX 8:55 AM and arrives in BZE at 3:55 PM; return flight departs BZE at 4:35 PM and arrives in LAX at 8:00 PM. Tickets for the new routes are now on sale at United’s website; one-way fares to Belize City begin at US$346. Besides Belize, United add three more non-stop routes from its LAX hub to Cozumel (CZM), Manzanillo (ZLO) and Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa (ZIH) in Mexico, United; Mexican service will launch in February, with a seasonal schedule. The first of United’s new Los Angeles routes begins with service to Belize City on January 9, operating once-weekly through the winter.
