The Lionfish Bar & Grill

Wondering where to grab lunch in the middle of the Caribbean Sea? Finding a full-service restaurant and bar in the middle of the ocean is somewhat rare, few and far between at best.
Oddly enough, in the southern part of Belize, there’s a private island resort located 18 miles East of Placencia named Ray Caye with the motto “all boats welcome”. It is home to the famous Lionfish Grill that is open to the public for lunch and dinner, daily. An unexpected gem in the middle of nowhere, yet conveniently located only 5-7 minutes away from the Gladden & Silk Caye Marine Reserve.
A popular stop for the yachting community but for day-trippers, it’s also a perfect stop off for lunch during an all-day tour, or after your fun-filled day on the water. Stop by for some of the bar’s cocktails (you will not be disappointed!) Be sure to ask for the frozen coconut mojito, and if that’s not your style the menu has a list of over 25 hand-crafted cocktails for your choosing.
Lunch is open from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm daily and has an international menu with a focus on the fresh seafood received daily on the island. There are a few items that are a must-try if you stop on the island.
  • The famous lionfish tacos
  • Ray Caye ceviche with crispy corn tortilla chips
  • Jalapeños infused burger if you have a healthy appetite.
For dinner available 6:30 – 9:30 pm the Lionfish Grill has a different spread every night that always includes a choice of 2 appetizers, 3 main course options, and delectable desserts. There’s something fresh and new every day and makes sure to cater to all dietary needs! For dinner, reservations are required and must be made by 4 pm.
The Lionfish Bar and Grill can cater sunset dinners, special events, and even weddings. The entire island can host up to 50 guests.
